Jyoti Mohan has lived over two decades in Baltimore County listening to neighbors, identifying problems, and taking action to solve them. As a community leader, educator, and parent, she has a proven track record of leveraging state and local resources wisely, while delivering real results.
Championing For Our Neighbors in Their Time of Need.
When Jyoti saw the need in her neighborhood, she stepped up for the local Scouts Troops, provided support to understaffed animal rescues, collected supplies for the Student Support Network and other non-profits working with families in need. When she saw gaps in services for underserved communities, Jyoti founded the Minority Coalition Community Center of Baltimore County, where she now serves as Board President. With her coalition building experiences, Jyoti will bring a community-centered approach to creating state legislation by listening to constituents, understanding their struggles, and advocating for policies that create tangible opportunity.
Dedicated to Our Schools and Local History
As a parent of three children, Jyoti has deeply invested in supporting Baltimore County Public Schools. Jyoti has served as a PTA leader at Jacksonville Elementary, Cockeysville Middle, and Dulaney High Schools, spearheading efforts to provide programming to enhance student learning, foster a community for parents, and increase staff professional development opportunities. As a historian with a PhD in History from the University of Maryland, Jyoti serves on the Maryland Governor’s Commission on Military Monuments as well as the Maryland Governor's Commission on African American History and Culture; the only state-wide historical commissions. As your next state delegate, Jyoti will work to preserve what makes our community unique—our culture, heritage, and strong schools.
Currently, Jyoti remains active in leading civic and political engagement efforts at the local level. She serves on the Baltimore County Democratic Central Committee and the North Baltimore County Democratic Club. Additionally, as a pet owner and animal lover with certifications in animal behavior and welfare, she serves on the Baltimore County Animal Hearing Board. Jyoti and her husband have made Baltimore County their home for over twenty years, raising their three children in Cockeysville. Their household includes two dogs, one cat, and one bunny.
Family—whether immediate, extended, or chosen—is the foundation of everything Jyoti does and the lens through which she views every political issue. She's committed to ensuring everyone is safe, content, and successful. She's fighting for a wholesome and healthy environment, excellent schools that nurture kind and empathetic children, and dignified care for our elders who deserve to spend their golden years with respect and support. As your next State Delegate, Jyoti will be a champion focusing on solutions that reflect our community's values.
